Orthotic Device

EVAL
When your physician thinks you are ready to be fit with an orthotic device and M-Power has received the order, you will be contacted to schedule your evaluation. During this visit, you will talk in depth with your orthotist about your general health, lifestyle, work, hobbies and goals for using your orthosis. If you are a previous orthotic user, please bring your device to your appointment. The orthotist will then make a recommendation for a orthotic design that will facilitate your expectations and abilities and forward to both your physician and insurance carrier for consideration and authorization.
CASTING AND FITTING AND DELIVERY
Often the measuring and casting process will take place at the same appointment as the evaluation. Once the cast is taken, we will use the cast, along with recorded measurements to build your orthosis.

When fabrication is completed, in usually a week or so, you will return to the office for Delivery. At this appointment, the orthotist will fit the device on you and perform final trimming and shaping of the device. At this time, small changes may be made to optimize function.

Before you take the device home with you, your orthotist will make sure you understand how to use your device and review any required care and maintenance. We will establish a wearing schedule, to get you used to incorporating the orthosis into your daily routine. It is important that you follow the wearing schedule and guidelines established by your orthotist and/or Physical Therapist. If you notice any lasting redness or discomfort, STOP wearing the device and contact our office for an appointment as soon as possible.

You will return to the office for routine follow ups, adjustments and/or repairs as needed. Contact our office if you have any questions or concerns as soon as possible.
